A-Level專業(yè)文章寫(xiě)作中的連詞（二）因果連詞

 

　　上一次我們?yōu)榇蠹医榻B了數(shù)學(xué)語(yǔ)句中表示連接關(guān)系的連詞。今天A+國(guó)際教育小A要說(shuō)的是：隱含或解釋(Implications or Explanations)。因果關(guān)系，簡(jiǎn)單直白點(diǎn)，就是因?yàn)?hellip;…所以……的那些事。說(shuō)到因?yàn)楹退?，每個(gè)人腦海里一下子閃出來(lái)的一定是because和so，非常好!但如果通篇都是because和so，尤其是像數(shù)學(xué)這種邏輯性超強(qiáng)的學(xué)科來(lái)說(shuō)，這兩個(gè)詞會(huì)不會(huì)累到罷工了呢?來(lái)看下面的例子吧：
 

 

　　1. The gradient of astraight line is positive.

　　直線的斜率是正數(shù)。

　　2. The straight line isincreasing.

　　直線是上升的。
 

　　as/because/since (最常見(jiàn)的用法)

　　As (Because, Since) the gradient of a straight line is positive, this line isincreasing.
 

　　· due to (比用as更強(qiáng)調(diào))

　　The straight line isincreasing due to its positivegradient.
 

 

　　· in view of/owing to/on account of (比用as更強(qiáng)調(diào))

　　In view of (Owing to, On account of) positive gradient of astraight line, it is increasing.
 

　　· given (所述條件不可避免的結(jié)果)

　　Given positive gradient of a straight line, it is increasing.

 

　　· it follows that (對(duì)原因給出比用as更多的強(qiáng)調(diào))

　　The gradient of astraight line is positive. It follows that this line is increasing.
 

　　· consequently/therefore/thus (強(qiáng)調(diào)性居于as和it follows that之間。Consequently和therefore在句子開(kāi)頭比thus更合適)

　　The gradient of astraight line is positive and consequently (therefore, thus) this line is increasing.
 

　　大家是不是很常用because和since呢?這當(dāng)然沒(méi)有問(wèn)題。但當(dāng)一頁(yè)紙里有過(guò)多的because，便會(huì)使文章讀起來(lái)生硬，所以，我們要學(xué)會(huì)合理的應(yīng)用as，due to，it follows that等連接詞或短語(yǔ)。

　　同樣的情況也出現(xiàn)在therefore和hence的運(yùn)用中。我們也可以使用不同的說(shuō)法，如consequently和it follows from ... that，以免重復(fù)。另外，because后面跟的是從句，若只跟名詞或動(dòng)名詞，則用because of。
