My soul can reach,when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need,by sun and candle-light.

I love thee purely,as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs,and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints.I love thee with the breath,

伊麗莎白·芭蕾特·布朗寧，是英國維多利亞時代最受人尊敬的詩人之一。她的作品涉及廣泛的議題和思想，對艾米麗·狄金森，艾倫·坡等人都有影響。布朗寧夫人創(chuàng)作的這首十四行詩是在她答應(yīng)了她愛人的求婚以后的那一段時間，整首詩歌表達了對于愛情的禮贊和謳歌，描繪了不朽且永不停止的美好愛情。
這是一首典型的十四行詩，詩歌的押韻形式為ABBA ABBA CDDC CD，是一個完整的五音部抑揚格iambic pentameter，也就是每個詩行共有10個音節(jié)，5個揚5個抑。
修辭手法：
Alliteration
詩歌中運用了大量的押頭韻的修辭手法（見灰色陰影單詞），這些押韻的詞組展現(xiàn)了詩歌的美感和旋律感，讓讀者讀起來朗朗上口，為詩歌永恒不變的愛情主題增加了美感和音樂感。
Anaphora
Anaphora也是詩歌中常見的手法，但是大部分學(xué)生會用repetition這個詞語來概括，但是專業(yè)的詩歌語言時anaphora，repetition大多會用在小說或者散文中。詩歌中出現(xiàn)了大量的重復(fù)I love thee，這些重復(fù)加強了情感表達，語氣，加深了主題。讓愛情這個關(guān)鍵詞貫穿全詩
Climax
這個術(shù)語翻譯成‘層遞’，也就是在內(nèi)容和表達上層層遞進。全是連續(xù)了8個I love thee，在語言上是重復(fù)，在內(nèi)容上是遞進，每一個I love thee后面都有不同程度的愛，從深度，廣度到陽光空氣水，再到心靈的純潔和最終的死亡，每一層內(nèi)容都呈現(xiàn)出遞進關(guān)系。
主題
Eternal love
詩歌中標(biāo)注黃色的詞語都是表明‘永恒、不停止’的意象，從這些意象的意思可以看出，詩人想要用永恒的事物襯托出永恒的、深刻的愛。這種愛刻苦銘心，不因時間的流逝和腎病的終止而結(jié)束。
