說小妙招前我們先來聊一聊ACT是什么。首先ACT（American College Test）被稱為“美國高考”，它既是美國大學(xué)的入學(xué)條件之一，又是大學(xué)發(fā)放獎學(xué)金的主要依據(jù)之一及對學(xué)生綜合能力的測試標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。這個考試也被很多美國大學(xué)承認(rèn)，但其中中部和西部的院校居多。


 
ACT考試難度
考試內(nèi)容包括英語閱讀、語法、數(shù)學(xué)和科學(xué)，以及獨(dú)立思考和判斷能力的考試。由于中國學(xué)生數(shù)理化基礎(chǔ)好，所以相對更容易獲得相對滿意的成績。

　  最近ACT官網(wǎng)上放出了一道作文樣題(Intelligent machines)和6篇不同分?jǐn)?shù)段的范文，官網(wǎng)滿分范文卻換成了一篇五段式結(jié)構(gòu)的文章。這篇滿分作文就language use下面附的評語是“Precise vocabulary and a variety of clear sentence structures reflect advanced skill in the use of language”。對于語言表達(dá)欠佳的同學(xué)來說，這篇范文提供了一篇非常好的仿寫素材。

　　首先，我們結(jié)合一個倒裝句看看如何在文中體現(xiàn)“advanced skill in the use of language”:
not only does the preference of the mechanical over the natural interfere with the job market and the economy, but its use also has the potential to seriously degrade culture as whole.(這一句出現(xiàn)在一篇滿分作文的 conclusion中，它概括了正文第一段和第二段 intelligent machines的兩個缺點(diǎn)，可見 not only… but also的句型是一個非常實(shí)用和有效的總結(jié)句)

　　這個句子使用的是部分倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)，沒有倒裝之前的語序是The preference of the mechanical over the natural not only interferes with the job market and the economy, but its use also has the potential to seriously degrade our culture as a whole.

　　也就是說，當(dāng)not only放在句首時，not only所在的這部分需要進(jìn)行部分倒裝，也就是說將謂語的一部分如助動詞did/does/do或情態(tài)動詞倒裝至主語之前。(but also后無需倒裝)。下面我們舉個例子：
　　大學(xué)教育不僅標(biāo)志著成年期的起點(diǎn)，而且還為學(xué)生在未來迎接社會中的挑戰(zhàn)作準(zhǔn)備。
　　未倒裝的語序：University education not only marks the starting line of adulthood, but it also prepares students for future challenges in society.

　　那么如何將這個句子進(jìn)行倒裝呢?第一步：我們把not only放在句首；第二步：university education marks倒裝為does university education mark(一般現(xiàn)在時的話，助動詞do/does提前，一般過去時的話，did提前，后面動詞采用原形)，于是我們就有了下面這個句子：

　　Not only does university education mark the starting line of adulthood, but it also prepares students for future challenges in society.
